Injustice Factory Samples!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Nov 18, 2022 at 02:01:06 AM

DC DBG fans,

Excuse the radio silence. We have been working hard to keep production moving ahead (plus we’re working on some DC DBG stuff for the future…). We are still on track for February fulfillment, though (full transparency) the realities of global shipping could mean March.

We wanted to make sure we had something cool to share for this update. So, how about the factory sample of DC Deck-Building Game: Injustice? These components are digitally printed, but are meant to approximate the final product for our team to provide any final notes to the factory.

Without further ado, check out a few photos, including the Kickstarter Exclusive dual-layered Health Track tile (with wooden markers), which we have spent lots of extra time making as good as it can be. Please note:

  • The foil on the cards and on the box are not present in this sample.
  • We used some cool red lighting for some of these photos to complement the red on the box cover, so the cards have more of a red hue than they have in reality.

Production Update and Some Previews
over 1 year ago – Sat, Oct 01, 2022 at 01:46:56 AM

lpmaDC DBG fans,

As we approach the end of September, we wanted to give you an update on the production of all the different DC Deck-Building Game products in this campaign and our adjusted timeline.

First of all, let’s pull the veil back a bit on the actual process. When we finish components for a game (cards, packaging, token sheets), we submit print files as PDFs to the factory. For this Kickstarter, there are so many different products (especially once you factor in all the Multiverse Editions and Promo Packs) that we sent the factory print files for each product as we finished it. Rivals – The Flash vs. Reverse-Flash was the first thing that went to print and Injustice was the last. But it’s ALL with the factory now.

After the factory goes through our files for each product, it sends us eproofs via email that show how the cards and everything else will be printed. The cards appear on sheets and we have to go through all the cards on the printing sheets to make sure they look exactly like our printing files and there are the correct numbers of each card. It isn’t always seamless. There have been a few cases in this project when a card was off (usually not enough copies or too many) or the eproof of the Kickstarter version of the game was missing something. We have also had weird technical hurdles… the factory having issues with how certain elements are embedded in our files, for example.

As eproofs get approved, the factory creates physical samples of some of the components, sending us photos for comments. Once the eproofs and images of physical samples are all approved, the factory will send us samples of the products for us to check to make sure we are happy with everything. At this point in the process, we will typically have at least a few comments in terms of things we’d like to see improved. If it’s something minor, the factory will make these changes (and email us evidence) and start manufacturing. If it’s something important, we’ll ask to see another physical sample.

Currently, we are almost through the eproofing process and have been receiving images of physical samples. We will be receiving physical samples of almost everything at our office in the upcoming weeks. After that, we’ll start the actual manufacturing process.

We are, as we said last time, running behind schedule. We spent extra time on the game cards and rulebooks to make them as good as they could be and we have been pushing the factory to make the products close to perfect. We have also (full transparency) been dealing with the reality that factories in China are experiencing power cuts, limiting the number of days they can work, and occasional COVID outbreaks.

Though we wanted to get your games by the holidays, early 2023 is going to be far more realistic, given where we are at. If we had to peg a month right now, it would be February. We apologize for the delay but we also know how much this community of fans cares about DC Deck-Building Game. It must be an amazing experience for the fans. We have no interest in disappointing you.

We will keep sharing updates in the weeks to come, particularly some awesome-looking physical samples.

Two More Exclusives and a Preview

A late addition to the Kickstarter edition of Injustice was using the Kickstarter Exclusive cover art on the Multiverse Divider and Randomizer card… making these exclusives too! So, it will be really clear that you have the special Kickstarter edition of the game if you put your components in the Multiverse Box. Check out the Divider!

Last but not least, we wanted to show you a Kickstarter Exclusive Arena Card we haven’t shown before… Arkham Asylum!

Found Inventory Sale and Production Update
over 1 year ago – Sat, Aug 27, 2022 at 02:21:51 AM

DC DBG fans,

Our apologies that we have been a bit silent lately, but we’ve been working very hard! We went to SDCC and Gen Con back-to-back and we got to meet lots of fans and preview new products.

If you missed out on the DC DBG Super Heroes Playmat and Zatanna Zatara Promo Card, both are now available as part of our Found Inventory Sale! Besides exclusives, we have big discounts on lots of collectibles and games, including several DC Deck-Building Game products. Check it out at this link!

Production Status

The bad part about going to a couple shows in a row: Most of our staff has had to take time off due to COVID infections over the past couple of months. Happily, we seem to all be healthy now. But it has slowed down production a bit on the DC Deck-Building Game 10th Anniversary products.

Another reason for a bit of a slowdown: quality control. We loved our DC DBG fans before this campaign, but after talking to everyone so much over the past months, we’re putting additional effort into making sure you are very happy with everything. That has meant doing extra rounds of proofing internally on everything and then extra rounds of eproofs with the factory to make sure everything is exactly how we want it to be. Given how many products are in this campaign, it has been super time-consuming (even the Multiverse Editions take lots of time in terms of proofing, since we have to make sure every card and other component is present in the factory proofs and looks perfect). In particular, we have put extra work into the dual-layered Health Track tiles for Injustice and the layout/quality of the Multiverse Box.

What does this mean for the delivery date  of your games? There is likely to be a slight delay. We won’t have a specific estimate of how much of a delay until manufacturing officially commences, but we wanted to be fully transparent with you and hope you understand. We will never sacrifice quality for speed and we know most of you will agree.

Before we go, here’s a look at two of the cards from Rivals – The Flash vs. Reverse-Flash!

We will start having samples from the factory relatively soon, which we’re excited to share with everyone!

Visit Us at Gen Con Next Week!
almost 2 years ago – Sat, Jul 30, 2022 at 12:25:26 AM

DC DBG fans,

Game development is going swimmingly. We’re putting some finishing touches on the Injustice and Multiverse Box rulebooks, making some refinements on the dual-layered Health Track tile, and working with the factory on the interiors of the different boxes.

If you missed the last update, reprints of DC DBG: Rivals – Batman vs. The Joker, Teen Titans, and Heroes Unite have all arrived and are available on our website. If you’re outside of the U.S. and Canada and are having trouble finding these games: We will be adding links to our eBay Store for international fans shortly.

If you’re going to Gen Con in Indiana next week (August 4-7), DC Deck-Building Game will be well-represented at our Booth #403! We’ll have all the base games and expansions currently available, plus early samples of the retail boxes for Injustice, Rivals – The Flash vs. Reverse-Flash, and Multiverse Box – Super Heroes Edition.

We will also have some DC DBG events and tournaments… check out our schedule. The big news: The Rebirth event will feature a new Scenario with new Characters and Super-Villains!

Last but not least, we will have two DC Deck-Building Game exclusives at the show. Please note: What we learned from this Kickstarter is that DC DBG fans want access to ALL the content that’s released. So we have printed extras of both exclusives and will list them on our website (and eBay Store for international fans) later in August for those who won’t make it to Gen Con.

DC Deck-Building Game: Super Heroes Playmat: This Gen Con-exclusive playmat features the cover art from the new edition of the Multiverse Box (coming to stores next year), showing DC Super Heroes drawn by artist Omar Francia. It measures 29.5” x 16.5” and is designed to work with any DC Deck-Building Game product. The playmat will sell for $24.99 and will also be given as a prize at tournaments.

DC Deck-Building Game: Zatanna Zatara Promo Card: All DC DBG purchases at the show include this Gen Con-exclusive Super Hero card featuring Zatanna Zatara. Tournament participants will also receive this card. Attendees can buy the card for $4.99 without purchasing any other items.

We hope to see lots of you at the show!

July 5 Deadline for Surveys Approaching!
almost 2 years ago – Fri, Jul 01, 2022 at 11:27:03 PM

DC DBG fans,

Happy holiday weekend (in the US at least)! The deadline for completing your surveys is fast approaching: JULY 5. We will lock orders and charge credit cards at that point. We want to make sure we produce enough rewards to cover all backers, so please finalize your order if you haven’t already done so.

Reminder: The best way to contact us with questions about your specific survey is through a Kickstarter private message or through our customer service portal: cryptozoic.kayako.com/

Quick update on the reprints: There was a bit of a slowdown at the port, but we expect DC DBG: Rivals – Batman vs. The Joker, Teen Titans, and Heroes Unite to be at our offices in slightly more than a week (and then at retailers a little later).

Preview: Multiverse Box Tokens and Enter the Speed Force!

As we finish up our files for the factory, we thought we’d share a look at the punchboard for the Multiverse Box. Besides the unlocked stretch goals, we added a Source Wall Tile for the 6-player World Hopper Mode and 18 VP Tokens to use for anyone who doesn’t have Forever Evil or Crisis Expansion Pack 3. We also made the two Line-Up Tiles (designated as Earth-1 and Earth-2) considerably wider. Check it out!

One more preview before we go. Check out one of the main deck cards from Injustice!
