Next Steps: Pledge Manager Coming Soon!
almost 2 years ago – Sat, May 14, 2022 at 04:27:52 AM

DC DBG fans,

The end of a Kickstarter is always a bit of an adjustment... we miss the excitement of stretch goal reveals and previews as much as many of you do!

What's next: We are working on setting up the pledge manager through BackerKit. We can’t launch the pledge manager until Kickstarter finishes charging credit cards, which takes a week or more. Between that and all the work that goes into setting up the pledge manager, the earliest it will launch is about 10 days from now (and it may take a little longer than that).

Here’s how it will all go:

  • Your credit card will be charged by Kickstarter for whatever amount you pledged.

  • In about two weeks, you will receive an invitation from BackerKit to complete your survey in the pledge manager. We will (probably on the same day) post an update about the invitations being sent and specify a deadline.

  • In the pledge manager, you will be able to do the following: switch tiers, choose any add-ons you want (including additional reward tiers), allocate any extra funds you added during the Kickstarter (for add-ons and/or shipping), pay for add-ons or a higher tier, pay for shipping, and fill out your shipping information.

  • On the deadline (a month or less after the pledge manager opens), we will lock orders, meaning you won’t be able to make any further changes to your rewards. We will also charge your credit card whatever you owe beyond what you pledged in the campaign.

  • When games are ready to ship out, we will inform you that we will soon lock addresses. Once addresses are locked (likely toward the end of the year), you will no longer be able to change your shipping address.

We hope this explanation helps. While we have your attention, here’s another oversized card from Injustice!

Thanks for backing,

24 Hours Left… Final Three Stretch Goals!
almost 2 years ago – Fri, May 13, 2022 at 06:21:58 AM

DC DBG fans,

It all comes down to this! Only one day left in the campaign... it has been an amazing ride. Please keep sharing the campaign all day: https://bit.ly/DC10Kickstarter

Before we get to some logistics stuff and stretch goals, we thought we’d share a couple more oversized cards from Injustice, by request. We’ll show more soon!

ADD-ONS

The add-ons in this campaign are the items in the “Add-ons” section of the main page. You can see the costs of each add-on next to its image (or CLICK HERE). IMPORTANT: You can also add multiple tiers as add-ons (multiple of the same tier or different tiers).

So, if you know the add-ons you want, HOW do you actually pledge for add-ons? There are two options:

  •  Option 1 (preferred): Click on the tier you pledged for and manually add funds to cover all the add-ons you want. For example, if you want the Nemesis Promo Pack and Character Promo Pack, you would add $20 to your pledge. Later in the pledge manager (powered by BackerKit), you will select the specific add-ons you want, applying these extra funds you pledged. This is preferred because funds added during the campaign help unlock stretch goals; any funds added in BackerKit do not count toward stretch goals.

  •  Option 2: Select and pay for add-ons in the pledge manager after the campaign. Again, the downside is that the extra you spend for add-ons doesn’t help unlock stretch goals.

SHIPPING

Since some of you have asked, you CAN also add to your pledge now to pay for shipping based on our estimates, if you’d like. Please note that final shipping could be slightly higher or lower, so you’d either need to pay for the remainder in BackerKit (if it’s more) or request a partial refund (if it’s less). The main advantage of this is again helping unlock stretch goals.

Please check out the shipping table on the page (or CLICK HERE). Keep in mind these are estimates, though we don’t expect major shifting. Also, please note: When we import this product into the UK and EU, we will have to pay a VAT (value-added tax) based on the value of the product (i.e., the sales price). The percentage is based on the specific country we are importing to and will be charged as a tax when checking out in BackerKit’s pledge manager.

Drumroll… Last Three Stretch Goals

Here we go! When we get to $950k, we’ll upgrade all the tokens in the Kickstarter version of Injustice with thicker and higher quality punch board. This includes all 25 KO’d tokens, 20 VP tokens, 4 Health markers, and 4 Charge markers. They will go from 1.64mm thickness to 2.64mm thickness and feel much more substantial!

If we reach $975k, we’ll introduce a special 6-Player World Hopper Mode to the Multiverse Box, with 4 tokens and a new section in the rulebook. This was based on backer requests… now, after 10 years, you can finally share the game with more of your friends! Please see the section below for a longer explanation of this mode.

Art Not Final

Finally, if we get to $1 million, all Kickstarter copies of Injustice will include a special oversized Anniversary Kickstarter Backer card and a 10-card Anniversary Starter deck for Injustice (with exclusive art from the comics)! This would also make it possible to play Injustice with 6 players using the 6-player mode introduced by the previous stretch goal. Many of you have asked for this stretch goal, so we hope we make it!

6-Player World Hopper Game Mode

The $975k stretch goal unlocks new rules and components to play a standard or Multiverse game with 6 players! During setup, two 5-card Line-Ups and two Nemesis stacks are created. One Line-Up/Nemesis stack is designated as Earth-1 and the other Earth-2.

During the game, 2 players will take their turns simultaneously. This is tracked with the new active player markers. Player 1 and Player 4 will each start the game with one of these on its active side. During your turn, you can only interact with the Line-Up associated with the Earth you are currently on and the players to your left and right. Your Attack cards, for example, will only hit the players immediately to your left and right. At the end of your turn, you will flip over the token and pass it to the player on your left.

"Arrived at..." is the active side and "Destination..." is the inactive side

When you are passed a token on its inactive side, you will refill the Line-Up. If the previous player defeated a Nemesis, reveal a new Nemesis and resolve its First Appearance – Attack against yourself and the two players to your right. You will not start your turn until the other player marker is also on its inactive side. Once both tokens have been passed, they are flipped to their active sides and their controllers can begin their turn.

Note: This game mode requires that you own at least 2 base sets.

A Quick Final Day Poll
almost 2 years ago – Fri, May 13, 2022 at 06:21:55 AM

DC DBG fans,

It has been a great last 24 hours so far… thank you to all the fans for being part of this campaign and helping answer questions from new backers. You’re awesome!

For info about add-ons, shipping, and final stretch goals, please check out our BIG UPDATE from earlier today.

Right now, we have a very simple POLL asking if you would like the option to buy additional dual-layered Health Track tiles as an add-on and if you would like the oversized Anniversary Kickstarter card to be foil (IF it is unlocked before the end of the campaign). Please let us know!

Thanks,

The Cryptozoic Team

Thank You from the Cryptozoic Team!

DC DBG fans,

We ended up with more than 6000 backers and over $1.08 million in pledges… that is incredible and beyond our expectations!

This campaign has been an amazing experience for our whole team. When we first decided to do a 10th Anniversary Kickstarter last year, we didn’t know exactly what to expect. We knew DC Deck-Building Game fans loved the series, but we weren’t sure what the reaction to a Kickstarter would be. Nothing could prepare us for how passionate and engaged you all have been these last 30 days!

We definitely came into the campaign with a plan in place, but your feedback helped shape and change the Kickstarter and the final products. We learned so much from you about what you like and want from DC DBG, and we will definitely be engaging with the fans more directly going forward.

Mostly, this campaign showed us that the DC DBG community is an incredible group of fans who are welcoming, smart, and (we can’t use this word enough) passionate. Opinions were diverse and we couldn’t make everyone happy with every decision, but we did our best. Above all, we love the energy and spirit of this community; after the first couple of days, it was the fans who would explain the ins and outs of the campaign to new backers. It was awesome to see.

We will go a bit quiet in the next few weeks as we put the finishing touches on everything, so we can get files to the factory in June. BUT before we do:

You've gone above and beyond and we felt the need to do the same. We've pulled two cards we were saving for an eventual expansion for you to play with early. These cards will be added to all versions of Injustice, but the Kickstarter versions will exclusively have the anniversary logo.

And as another thank you, we put together this video:

Thanks for being fans!

Social Media Stretch Goal Unlocked and Behind the Scenes: Injustice Card Art
almost 2 years ago – Thu, May 12, 2022 at 07:58:36 PM

DC DBG fans,

What an incredible day of the campaign! As always, it’s a pleasure hearing from all of you and just seeing the level of passion.

That passion was on full display as you came out in full force to unlock the social stretch goal, which is… Beast Boy! We’re big fans of the Teen Titans and we thought this Super Hero card would fit in nicely with the Raven and Starfire cards available in this campaign. The art is by Omar Francia. It will be in all Kickstarter copies of Injustice. We hope you like it!

Behind the Scenes: Injustice Card Art

We have done behind-the-scenes updates about the cover art for the Multiverse Box– Super-Villain Edition, Multiverse Box – Super Heroes Edition, and Injustice. So, as we approach the end of the campaign, we’d like to give you a look at some of the original card art created for the game.

In addition to art from the comics, we commissioned illustrations by several artists from Altercomics Studios. It was one way we hoped to make Injustice extra special.  Check out some of the sketches, inks, and colors created for the game (artists credits). And let us know what you think!
